Cape Ganjeolgot, a popular sunrise viewing spot, holds a sunrise festival on New Year’sDay. The cape offers a splendid landscape consisting of a vast horizon and the beautiful East Sea. It is also known as a filming location for several Korean TV dramas such as “Flames of Desire,” “May Queen,” and “Friends 2.” In addition, the Ganjeolgot Hope Mailbox is available to send postcards just like other ordinary mailboxes.

The shop directly purchases a variety of regional specialties and souvenirs of Ulju-gun from producers and sells them to visitors at reasonable prices. The shop also runs a snack bar.

Jinha Beach showcases the clear, blue seawater next to a popular sandy beach. It also boasts a magnificent landscape with the Myeongseondo Islet just offshore and a surrounding pine grove. In summer, the beach offers various aquatic sports, such as windsurfing, as well as festivals, performances, and other attractions.

The museum exhibits various shells and some of the world’s rare corals.

To encourage marine leisure and sports activities, Ulju Marine Leisure Sports Center in Jinha Beach offers equipment for activities including canoeing, windsurfing, and jet skiing. The center’s campground (16 auto campsites, 50 free campsites) surrounded by a pine grove, provides a magnificent view of the refreshing sea.

Daewangam Park, which is one of the twelve sights of Ulsan, provides an aromatherapeutic trail through a magnificent 100-year-old pine grove. The rich scent of roughly 15,000pine trees will soothe your tired body and mind. Moreover,DaewangamPark introduces Ulgi Lighthouse, the first lighthouse built on the eastern coast of Korea and is linked to Seuldo Island by a coastal trail that has a stunning view formed by mysterious rocks and the vast blue waters of the East Sea

Daewangbyeol Ainuri is cultural experience complex for children in Daewangam Park. The building consists of nine sections including an animation theater and a VR experience room. Outside is a sand playground and grass slides.

Daewangam Park Campground, which opened in December 2016, is a modern auto campground with a total of 53 campsites, 36 sites for autos and 17 sites for caravans. The campground offers various auxiliary facilities for campers’ convenience, including shower and restroom facilities, a washroom, and a rest area.

Ilsan Beach near Daewangam Park has shallow waters, making it suitable for family visits. In the summer, the beach offers various attractions including festivals, performances, and water sports

Seuldo Island is surrounded by splashing waves that sound like music played by a geomungo, a traditional Korean stringed musical instrument, and so it was named “seuldo”(“seul” means geomungo and “do” means island in Chinese characters). The island is often called Gomboseom Island, or “pockmarked island,” due to the old, tiny holes made by shells covering the whole area.

The Sori Experience Center was built with the concept of“lingering sounds.” The center offers a unique experience with its “Nine Scenes of Sound,”which refers to nine distinctive sounds including the sound of waves on Seuldo Island that represent the history, culture, and nature of Dong-gu, Ulsan

With a 44 m height, Hwaamchu Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in East Asia and has an observatory where one can enjoy a panoramic view of Ulsan Port and the industrial complex. The exhibition hall on the first floor displays around 160 pieces of photos and models related to the port, ships, navigation beacons, etc.

Dangsa Ocean Fishing Park is technically a bridge that connects Yongbawi Rockface and Neomseom Rock in Dangsa Village, Buk-gu. You can see the plashing sea through the net-shaped floor and also enjoy a quaint beauty provided by the shells hanging on the handrails Since Japanese sea bream,rockfish, sea bass, and other sorts of fish are caught here, the park is popular among anglers.

The Jangsaengpo area which engaged in whaling until 1986, when whale hunting was banned, was designated as a Special Whale Culture Zone in 2008. The Jangsaengpo Whale Museum is Korea’s only museum dedicated to whales and exhibits various whale-related artifacts and materials. The Whale Life Experience Museum(Annex) has the country’s first dolphinarium. Because the museums offer science programs and history education, they are emerging as popular educational experiences for teenagers

The Whale-Watching Ferry, designed to revive the glory days of Jangsaengpo led by whaling, offers whale watching in the waters off Ulsan. The 550-ton, 42.38-meter-long ferry can accommodate 365 passengers and operates regularly from April to October

Sinjin Inn was once a popular spot filled with visitors as it was located near the beach, but it is now a culture and art space called “ARTSTAY,” which provides artists adequate space to carry out their creative activities. Accommodations are available by reservation only.

The Whale Culture Village is a 102,705㎡ theme park that includes a recreation of the old Jangseangpo Village when whaling was legal, a 5D theater with a 360-degree circular screen, Yoyang Park, which is a scaled-down version of the original Liaoyangpark in China, a Whale Sculpture Park, and an aquatic botanical garden.

The former 231 advanced naval base has been transformed into JSP Whally Kids Land with a playful space that aims to foster the dreams and hopes of children. It features a VR experience zone and other amusement facilities including a Whale Slide, a Ball Pool Exploration Zone, bumper cars, and a Flying Pirate Ship.

Jangsaengpo Monorail runs on a 1.3-kilometer circumferential route starting at the Whale Museum, passing through the Whale Culture Village and the 5D Theater, and then returning to the museum. The monorail offers a splendid panorama of the coast of Jangsaengpo,the WhaleCultureVillage,UlsandaegyoBridge, and the Ulsan Industrial Complex from 3 to 5 meters above ground.

Sinhwa Artist Village was established by former residents of Maeam-dong who had to resettle due to the construction of a petrochemical complex in the 1960s. After it was selected to appear as a mural village in the film “Miracle,” the villagers started painting pictures along its streets and completed their work with the “2010 Village Art Project.”
